Men's Breakfast

The Men’s Breakfast will meet on the third Thursday of the month. Watch for the schedule in the church calendar on the website. The location will again be the Golden Corral Restaurant at the corner of Grand Avenue and Litchfield Road. For additional information, contact Bernie Ryan at 623-214-5777.

Card Ministry

In March 2009, a new member of the congregation suggested a new group be started to make handcrafted greeting cards to be sent to shut-ins, those recovering from surgery or illness, those having a special birthday such as 75 or 80, and the bereaved.  In addition, the group prays for those who will receive their cards.

We know there are people who would like to learn how to make these one-of-a-kind cards.  Please join the group on the first Wednesday of each month at church at 1:00 and discover how easy and fun they are to complete.

Up to this time, the Card Ministry has relied on their own materials to send over 20 cards per month.  If you have supplies such as ribbons, cardstock, scrapbook paper, brads, eyelets, rubber stamps, ink pads, colored pens and pencils, etc. that you would like to donate, those items would be greatly appreciated.

Please contact Helen Kain at 623-214-5097 or sundaecat@cox.net

Supplies Needed

Spirit of Grace has, in the past, provided the schools in Wittman (Nadaburg Elementary and Middle School) with hygiene and toiletry products as well as other sundry items. Until recently multiple items have been acquired during travels as well as items purchased. During this difficult economic period, there has been a lack of contributions. Please consider contributing to the health and well-being of these students who otherwise may be unable to meet the minimum needs for healthy hygiene. Items may be placed in the plastic bins in the Fellowship Hall labeled "Soap & Toiletries." Bobbi and Dale Buhl will continue their service of taking the items to the school nurse. Thank you!

Following Sunday Worship Services refreshments are served at Cafe Grace in the fellowship hall.  This provides an opportunity for fellowship and conversation with fellow members and guests.

Health News

The Health Committee sponsors one Sunday a month as Wellness Sunday to present ideas for maintaining your physical, mental, and spiritual health. The Health Committee welcomes your ideas for topics to be covered.

Caring Corps - The Health Committee has a service aimed at providing assistance to those just released from the hospital or who are homebound for a time or who could use a little help now and then. This corps of volunteers is interested in helping one another when the need arises. Their services are transportation to doctor’s or physical therapy appointments, preparing meals, respite care for the caregiver, light housekeeping, or handyman help. Please contact Barbara Stenberg if you need temporary help.

Cell Phone Recycle

Women of the ELCA have teamed with Women's Funding Network in an ongoing effort to recycle cell phones and raise money at the same time.  Money will be used to: support programs that help families and women out of poverty; help support women-led solutions in the most pressing global issues; and provide 911 emergency phones for senior citizens and people at risk.  Roughly 60% of cell phones will be refurbished and resold.  Another portion of the phones not sold will be programmed to dial 911 and donated to domestic violence survivors and other people at risk; the remaining will be recycled according to EPA standards. There is a box in the Fellowship Hall for you to place your old cell phone. Thanks for your help!
